ASPENS

Astrometric Search for Planets Encircling Nearby Stars
[Georgia State University]

State-of-the-art parallax studies such as CTIOPI achieve milli-arcsecond precision with 1-m class telescopes equipped with a CCD camera. ASPENS joins forces with CTIOPI to take advantage of this capability within a long-timeline, volume-limited survey of the reflex motions of nearby dwarf stars. This study will be sensitive to companions throughout the entire brown-dwarf mass regime and beyond. It is made possible by NAU and GSU participation in the SMARTS and NURO consortia.
